Hal S. Blatman, MD, is the founder and medical director of Blatman Health & Wellness Center and a nationally recognized authority in the diagnosis and treatment of myofascial pain and complex chronic conditions. He is credentialed in Pain Management and board certified in Occupational and Environmental Medicine and Integrative Holistic Medicine.
Dr. Blatman received his medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1980. He completed two years of orthopedic surgery training before pursuing a residency in Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the University of Cincinnati Hospital, where he also studied ergonomics. Earlier in his career, he practiced family medicine while managing a chain of urgent care facilities, gaining broad experience across acute, primary, and occupational care.
During his years in general medicine, Dr. Blatman recognized the limitations of conventional medicine in effectively treating chronic pain and complex illness. This realization led him to train extensively with the late Janet Travell, MD, widely regarded as the world’s leading expert in myofascial pain disorders. In 1988, he established Cincinnati’s first clinic dedicated to integrating traditional and holistic approaches to pain and healing.
In addition to his foundational training, Dr. Blatman has pursued advanced education in peptide therapy through the Seeds Scientific Research Institute, ReCODE Therapy for cognitive decline, and Metabolic Terrain Medicine, reflecting his ongoing commitment to addressing complex conditions at their biological roots.
Dr. Blatman is a Board-Certified Practitioner of Integrative and Holistic Medicine (ABIHM) and a Past President of the American Holistic Medical Association.
What He Does
Dr. Blatman specializes in identifying and treating the root causes of chronic pain, neurological dysfunction, and complex medical conditions. His clinical approach integrates precise diagnosis, hands-on therapies, advanced medical interventions, and holistic strategies designed to restore function and support long-term healing.
He is the originator of The Blatman Method, a highly refined approach to trigger point injection therapy that targets myofascial pain at its source rather than masking symptoms. He is also a pioneer in regenerative medicine, utilizing therapies such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP), stem cell treatments, and Very Small Embryonic-Like Stem Cells (VSELs) to support joint restoration, tissue repair, and neuroregeneration.
Dr. Blatman incorporates peptide therapy to support cellular signaling, tissue repair, immune modulation, and cognitive resilience. Through his training in ReCODE Therapy, he works with patients experiencing cognitive decline by addressing the multiple contributors to brain health, including inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, hormonal balance, and environmental factors.
He also applies the principles of Metabolic Terrain Medicine, particularly in the integrative support of cancer and complex chronic illness, focusing on optimizing the body’s internal environment to enhance healing capacity, treatment tolerance, and overall vitality.
