Spirulina May Help Lower Inflammation and Reverse Pain

herbs and supplements

Spirulina, a type of blue-green algae, is often used as a nutritional supplement and traditionally as a source of food. It’s rich in various micronutrients and potentially beneficial antioxidant compounds like c-phycocyanin.

In one study, c-phycocyanin was found to significantly reduce inflammation in rats.

Inflammation is one cause of pain and is often involved in various conditions including Fibromyalgia, chronic pain, neuropathy, multiple sclerosis, Lyme disease, and more.

This isn’t the first study where spirulina was found to have potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Other studies have shown that spirulina may have a potentially strong therapeutic effect.
